I did a wedding for a good friend of mine a couple weeks ago, and it was beautiful. The location, the ceremony, and the party afterwards were just great. The one issue that we had, was that about an hour and a half of the reception was taken up with the wedding photography. It didn’t leave a lot of time for dancing afterwards, and I know that people were a little disappointed because they were having such a great time on the dance floor.
This is one of the main decisions that a bride and groom need to make about their wedding day. In the years to come lots of great photos are a wonderful thing to have. However, you need to decide how much time you’re willing to take out of the reception to get those photos. That decision is going to be different for every bride and groom but it is something that you definitely must think about. Make sure that you speak your photographer about how much time you’re willing to allow for the days photographs, and when the time comes, stick to that time frame. Once you discussed this with your photographer, it sets up the expectation and the whole day will run much more smoothly. One idea is to have your wedding party pictures taken before the ceremony and save bride and groom pictures for afterwards.
